Department of Biochemistry
The Department of Biochemistry has 2 wings.
The College Wing of the Department is involved in the teaching of MBBS and B.Sc Nursing students. The department is backed by a committed group of teachers who have adopted new teaching methodologies and clinically oriented lectures to make the subject interesting and prepare the students for their future clinical years. The students are also encouraged to take up short research projects.

The Diagnostic Wing of the Department is a Hightech Labratory catering to the needs of the institution and community at the large. The Professionally managed and technology driven laboratory has progressed by leaps and bounds to provide a wide array of tests catering to the needs of the Institution and surrounding areas.

Established infra structure and state-of-the-art equipment have helped speedy processing of samples and accurate reporting. A highly qualified team of professionals and technologists working round the clock ensure samples are processed everyday. Two-level validation of each test ensures acurate reporting.

The Department handles over 800 tests per day.

College biochemistry involved in Teaching MBBS, B.SC Nursing and MRD Students.  Staffs are involved in special investigations and research projects of their own and M.Sc Biochemistry students of other colleges.

Clinical Biochemistry is well equipped with auto analyzers, Semi autoanalysers, Blood gas and electrolyte analysers and CLIA.  It provides 24 hours services for in hospital patients and to the local clinics and hospitals.

Research:
Apart from intra and inter-departmental projects, the department also offers its laboratory facilities expertise and guidance to students carrying out their M.Sc, M.Phil and Ph.D. research projects from Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry region. Currently 7 research projects are being carried out by the Department. With the recently acquired equipment for Molecular Biology the Department hopes to venture into newer fields of Molecular Biology and Stem Cell Research.
