CLINICAL FACILITIES

Students are having opportunity to have their clinical practice at parent hospital, community field & other affiliated hospitals.

(a) HOSPITAL (PARENTAL / AFFILIATED)

The Pondicherry Institute of Medical Sciences hospital is a leading state-of-the-art Multi Speciality Hospital with 640 beds.

(b) AFFILIATED HOSPITAL

Students are also given permission to practice clinical skill in NIMHANS, Bangalore, Child Trust Hospital, Kancheepuram, Clunny Hospital, Anbu Illam, Puducherry

(c) COMMUNITY - HEALTH NURSING - CLINICAL PRACTICE

College of Nursing students are given opportunity to participate in Immunization programmes, School health programmes, MCH programmes, Home visit, Street play, puppet show, role play, projects, health talk, mass health programmes, Nutritional assessment and cooking demonstration are carried out in both rural and urban health centres.

(d) RURAL HEALTH CENTRE (Anaichakuppam)

Rural health centre is situated 5 km away from College of Nursing – Pondicherry Institute of Medical Sciences.

LIBRARY

Library is extensive, well ventilated and spacious with comfortable seating arrangements. There is a full time qualified and well experienced librarians who manages the library. There is a separate journal section. Our Library is computerized too, providing e-Library with internet facility.

CO - CURRICULAR & EXTRA CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

College of Nursing believes in all round development of its students as well as the faculty. Co-curricular as well as extracurricular activities are organized to rejuvenate the energy and build confidence and self esteem among the students and faculty without disturbing the curricular activities.

STUDENT ACTIVITIES

Each student is unique with their talents and capacities. When appropriate arena is provided they could exhibit their talents in arts and sports. All the student activities are organized under three categories.

1. Student Nurses Association
2. National Service Scheme.
3. Red Ribbon Club.

SPORTS AND CULTURAL PROGRAMMES

Students are encouraged to involve in sports activities everyday between 5-6 pm. There is an exclusive physical education trainer, who encourages and coaches the students based on their talents. In-house competitions are conducted every year in the month of February. In addition to this, they are encouraged to participate in intercollegiate sports competitions.

Cultural competitions are conducted every year in the month of November for our students. The batch who gets the maximum points receives the overall trophy. The trophy is rotated every year. In addition to this they are encouraged to participate in intercollegiate competitions both in and outside the campus.

College of Nursing, PIMS strongly believes in maintaining a ragging free campus. Strict discipline is maintained among nursing students. This committee functions with a Judicial Committee where the representatives from each class get involved in supervision of students in maintaining discipline both in College and Hostel under the guidance of the following faculty members.
