Training For Foreign Medical Students

We invite foreign medical students to undergo their elective training at PIMS. This training will be for a maximum period of 12 weeks, and is subject to permissions from the following Indian authorities.

• Medical Council of India, New Delhi
• Ministry of Health, New Delhi

Method of application: Please send a single envelope addressed to the Director -Principal, PIMS, Kalapet, Pondicherry 605 014, India with the following enclosures:

• One copy of duly filled in application form to Medical Council of India
• One copy of duly filled in application form to PIMS
• Six passport sized photographs (apart from those affixed on your forms)
• Six photocopies of your passport Note: Only students who are able to obtain valid registered student visas will be allowed to commence the elective training
• One copy of approval letter from the Dean of your Medical College/ University where you are currently undergoing medical studies
• A bank draft or bank pay order for Rs.5000/- (+ 18% GST) (non refundable) in favour of the - Secretary, Medical Council of India payable at New Delhi.(Please note: In some demand drafts there is column for "Branch". This SHOULD be New Delhi). (We are sorry, but, we cannot accept cash/wire transfer or credit card payments).
• A separate bank draft or bank pay order for Rs.2000/-(+ 18% GST) in favour of the Pondicherry Institute of Medical Sciences - payable at Pondicherry - this is the non refundable application processing charge. (Please note: In some demand drafts there is column for "Branch". This SHOULD be Pondicherry. (We are sorry, but, we cannot accept cash/wire transfer or credit card payments). *There will be no refunds if the application is unsuccessful or rejected.

Please also note that you should choose the period of your elective after suitable consideration. It will be impossible for us to change the dates of electives which have been decided since it will entail further clearance from the governmental agencies.

An additional Institutional tuition fee of Rs. 20,000/- (+ 18% GST) is payable to PIMS. This is to be paid at the time of actual commencement of the elective, ON your arrival at this institution and can be made by cash or Demand draft (for which you will be issued a receipt).

A valid Student Visa should be produced at the time of reporting at Pondicherry Institute of Medical Sciences. The procedural details of how to obtain the same can be accessed from the Bureau of Immigration, India athttp://www.immigrationindia.nic.in
