Round the clock availability of blood bank, anaesthesia and radiological hematology and lab services accredited NABL give good support for multidisciplinary care. Less invasive methods for managing heavy menstrual bleeding and fibroid uterus is available in the Department. Active research on several women health issues and academic activities are hallmarks of the Department activities in addition to patient care.

Medical management of ectopic pregnancy is offered.
Emerging perinatology service or maternal fetal medicine to provide better fetal outcome is practiced.
Fetal clinic service which caters to prenatal counseling, to the would-be parents for prenatally detected fetal abnormalities that pose risks where surgical guidance, prognosis, disability prevention advice by joint multidisciplinary team with counseling report that can be carried by the parents for further management if required and follow up by the concerned specialist.

• The support of dedicated neonatal services of the neonatologist and the Paediatric surgery team is the special boon. Preterm babies and growth restricted small babies found patronage under the neonatal unit thus providing awesome health shelter at their early blossoming stage of life along with the team. Thus the much longed procreative desire of many couples being fulfilled.
for women with bad obstetrics history abnormal babies (congenital anomalies) and primary amenorrhoea is being provided by joint care with genetists. Karyotyping, single gene defects can be identified and reported under one roof for Holistic care.
• Ambulatory Obstetric Services for Diabetes, IUGR,.
Ambulatory care for Menorrhagia patients, and day care procedures. Elective and emergency cases are regularly performed
Preventive Oncology – Cancer prevention by screening for cancer cervix and breast are undertaken with includes Pap smear, HPV testing, coloposcopy, mammography (USD, MRI& CT) and tumor markers cancer prevention vaccine for cervix is available.
Family welfare services, lap sterilisationsm vasectomy, MTP service, LNGS/IUCD insertion, contraceptive counseling, undertaken and it has been approved by the Government welfare schemes with insurance.
Hospital also offers infertility services to women desirous of pregnancy. The Department has an IUI lab, being upgraded and provides low cost infertility service to women who are unable to spend for costly Artificial Reproductive Techniques(ART), in co ordination with the Institute of Reproductive Medicine (a unit of Madras Medical Mission)
We are also the pioneers and one of the very few centers even today which offers uterine artery embolization for management of uncontrolled postpartum haemorrhage due to whatever reason (be it of uterine origin, or secondary to maternal soft tissue) is provided by the Department.

Undergraduate (MBBS) Postgraduates(MD),Nursing - Phd, Junior Resident and Senior Residents by expert teaching faculty. Students are exposed and trained to variety of cases and learn to manage emergency obstetrics and gynaecology through their labour room, ward and outpatient department postings.
Research projects on several women's health issues like genital tuberculosis, gestational diabetes mellitus, contraception, HPV deduction are being carried out which has got good recognitions as early pioneer studies by peer groups. Students are encouraged to take up research especially ICMR projects and take part in national level conferences, CME's and competitions besides their regular academics.
