Department of Pathology
The Department of Pathology is undoubtedly one of the pillars of Pondicherry Institute of Medical Sciences as it not only caters to the diagnostic needs of the patients but is also actively involved in teaching and imparting training to the medical students (UG and PG) and promoting research at all levels.
Diagnosis is one of the essential cores of medical science as we are now in the era of evidence based medicine (EBM). The Department is equipped with a Histopathology laboratory, Cytopathology laboratory and Hematology / Clinical Pathology laboratory. All these laboratories are accredited with NABL and include a wide scope of tests, delivering reports within the specified turn around time (TAT), the first of the kind in the entire Union Territory of Puducherry. We participate in EQAs with CMC, Vellore and RML, Lucknow.
