Department of Gastroenterology

The Department of Gastroenterology was established in 2009. It provides routine as well as emergency care for patients with all types of gastrointestinal, liver & pancreatic disorders and related systemic disorders. The department is manned by experienced gastroenterologists, efficient medical officers, skilled paramedical staff, and well-trained technicians.

The aim of the department is to provide compassionate, clinically oriented, patient-centred care. The Department works in close co-ordination with the departments of General Medicine, General Surgery, Radiology, Pathology, Microbiology and Biochemistry to achieve better patient outcomes .Regular clinical research is done in collaboration with other departments with publications in indexed national / international journals. The department is also involved in training of interns, post graduate students{MD (General Medicine) and MS (General Surgery)} and also in supervising dissertations of MD / MS students from other departments

Services

  • Outpatient services : Monday to Saturday 08.00 am to 04.30 pm
  • Inpatient services : General ward / Special ward / ICU
  • Emergency services : Available 24 X 7

Endoscopy services

The Endoscopy services function on all weekdays apart from 24×7 emergency services

Gastroscopy

Gastroscopy - diagnostic and therapeutic including multimodal treatment of upper GI Bleed, foreign body extraction, enteral stenting, achalasia dilatation, stricture management, placement of PEG and other feeding tubes etc.

Colonoscopy

Colonoscopy - diagnostic and therapeutic including polypectomy, multimodal treatment of lower GI bleed, colonic stenting etc.

ERCP

ERCP - therapeutic (both biliary and pancreatic) including sphincterotomy, stone extraction, stricture dilatation, stenting both plastic and self expandable metal etc

Pediatric endoscopies - diagnostic and therapeutic including management of foreign bodies and bleeds
